Honda Quad Bikes are no longer available to buy new in Australia
What The New Quad Bike Laws Mean For You.
Unfortunately, the government has ignored the evidence provided by the manufacturers and has instead moved to force all new quad bike vehicles sold in Australia to be fitted with unproven and potentially more unsafe roll over devices.
This means Honda, and many other manufacturers, will be forced to stop selling ATV’s to Australian farmers.
In 2017, the ACCC formed a taskforce to investigate and determine whether to recommend to the Assistant Treasurer that a mandatory safety standard for quad bikes be made under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).In late 2019 the Assistant Treasurer, Hon Michael Sukkar, introduced legislation, that can be found online: Consumer Goods (Quad Bikes) Safety Standards, to force all manufacturers to fit unproven ROPS (Roll Over Protection)/Operator Protection Devices (OPDs) devices to all new quad bikes sold in Australia.
The new quad bike safety standard applies to all quad bikes from 11 October 2020 with additional requirements for general use quad bikes from 11 October 2021.

WHY IS HONDA PULLING OUT OF AUSTRALIA?
Honda is firmly committed to user safety of all the equipment they produce.
Honda feels that, while the legislation is intended to improve farm ATV safety, the new legislation is flawed, unworkable and may put farmers’ lives at greater risk.
Rather than relying upon demonstrated scientific evidence, the ACCC has implemented a standard, which, in effect, is experimenting with farmers’ lives Read more here.
Honda Quads are manufactured in the US and, as the Australian market is only a tiny percentage of global sales and the safety benefits of Operator Protection Devices (OPDs) or ROPS have not been proven, Honda will not be producing a new Quad bike to meet the imposed legislation solely for Australian markets.
WILL I STILL BE ABLE TO BUY NEW HONDA QUAD BIKES?
No. Honda will no longer sell new quad bikes in Australia after OCTOBER 2021.
Polaris, Yamaha, Can-Am and Kawasaki are also leaving the Australian market, some even sooner than Honda. Please contact other manufacturers directly for more information on their respective withdrawal dates.
WILL PARTS AND SERVICING CONTINUE?
Yes. Honda Australia will continue to support owners with genuine spare parts for many years to come. The Honda Shop Midland will also continue to offer servicing and support for all your Honda equipment.

WHAT ARE MY ALTERNATIVES?
While new quad bikes will no longer be available, Honda Side-by-side UTVs (SXS) provide excellent stability and roll over protection and will continue to be available in Australian markets.
SXS sales have been rapidly growing since their introduction and offer many benefits including increased safety, greater carrying capacity and much more.
