The 2017 Honda CBR1000RR has been on a serious diet and it really shows once you climb aboard. The titanium tank (a first for a mass produced motorcycle) is far more narrow than the previous generation. Magnesium covers, revised ABS system, titanium exhaust, lighter slipper clutch, lithium-ion battery and even reviewing the length of every bolt in the engine has seen Honda shaving off nearly15kgs for vastly improved handling, acceleration and braking.
The full colour display is closely based on the WSBK spec race dash with a stack of adjustable modes to tailor power delivery, traction control and more to perfectly suit your riding style. Central to the system is the 5-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) gyro, which precisely measures what the machine is doing, in every plane. It works with the fuel-injection ECU, the new Throttle By Wire system – the first on an in-line-four Honda – and even the ABS system to provide unparalleled ride control right at your fingertips.
Power has also jumped by 10HP to help make the 2017 Honda CBR1000RR the fastest Fireblade yet. The engine revs harder and higher, thanks to an increase in compression ratio to 13:1 from 12.3:1, revised cam timing and valve lift, and a higher 13,000 rpm rev limit.
The 25th anniversary FireBlade is a stunner to look at too with LED lighting all round and sharp aggressive lines and a super clean tail section.
